Liu Xiang to run in Osaka

Olympic gold medallists Liu Xiang and Justin Gatlin head the field at next month's international athletics grand prix in Osaka, organisers said on Tuesday.

Japan's Olympic hammer throw champion Koji Murofushi will also be among the competitors for the competition at Osaka's NagaiStadium on May 7.

American Gatlin won gold in the men's 100 metres at last year's Athens Olympics while Liu made history for China by winningthe men's 110 metres hurdles in Athens. ADVERTISEMENT

Liu crossed the line in 12.91 seconds to equal the world record set by Britain's Colin Jackson in 1993.

Olympic pole vault champion Timothy Mack of the United States is also scheduled to take part.
