Traffic noise forces teachers on amplifiers (China Daily) Updated: 2005-04-08 10:10
Some 800 teachers in primary schools in Baiyun District, Guangzhou, have to
use microphones to amplify their voices to be heard in class.
The reason: Their school is located just 1.5 metres away from a newly
established crossroad, where three major streets intersect causing heavy traffic
noise.
Shouting has caused many teachers to suffer voice discomfort, while students
and faculty are forced to bear the major distraction, the Information Times
reports.
The school authority has requested the government install sound insulation to
provide a healthier education environment.
