Students aiming for Hong Kong colleges (China Daily) Updated: 2005-04-08 09:58
More than 1,000 Shanghai high school students queued in front of Hong Kong
University at an educational exhibition to enquire about further higher
education in Hong Kong, the Shanghai Evening News reports.
The parents of most students accompanied their kids to the English lectures
given by professors from Hong Kong University in English, though many did not
understand.
The reason parents wish to send their kids to Hong Kong is that they want to
provide them exposure to a more internationalized city which makes children more
competitive after graduation.
A lot of parents said that they will not only urge their kids to be fully
prepared for these exams and tests but are ready to pay the large amounts in
tuition and living expenses needed for Hong Kong - at least 300,000 yuan (US$
36,000).
