30,000 die in accidents in 1st quarter

In the first quarter of this year, there were 206,970 various accidents causing casualties in China, resulting in a total death toll of 30,597, according to a news release by the State Administration of Work Safety Tuesday.

Both the number of accidents and death toll declined by 12.9 percent and 4.3 percent, respectively, compared with the same quarter last year, according to the release.
