A 76-year-old retired railway porter from Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, has held an exhibition to celebrate walking more than 23,000 kilometres across China.

After retiring from the army, Chen Fuqin insisted on going everywhere on foot. In 1999, he made his first long distance journey, marking the return of Macao to China by walking the 10,000 kilometres from his hometown of Taiyuan to Zhuhai in South China's Guangdong Province.

In 2000, he then made an even longer journey of 13,000 kilometres to support Beijing's bid for 2008 Olympic Games.

So far Chen has visited almost all the regions of China and is now preparing for a journey to the Northeast of the country, the news website xinhuanet reports.
