Updated: 2005-03-29 09:22

A special signal lamp for people suffering from colour blindness - invented by a Shanghai high school student - may be used in 2008 Beijing Olympics, the Shanghai Morning Post reports.

Pang Yingchao got the idea from one of his colourblind classmates.

After the invention was exhibited, many government departments and units displayed interest.

The device operates with coloured screens added over the lamps so that colourblind individuals can distinguish messages from the signals.
