More efforts to aid the poor

Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu has urged the central government to speed up economic development in rural areas.

Hui Liangyu made the call at a plenary session of the Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development under the State Council.

The vice premier says China's poverty relief work made inspring progress last year with a significant drop in the poor population in rural areas.

He called on related departments to adjust policies and investment to help poverty relief efforts while taking measures to ensure aid money is invested efficiently.
