Nowitzki sidelined with knee injury

Dallas Mavericks All-Star forward Dirk Nowitzki missed Sunday's 69-90 defeat against the Houston Rockets because of a knee injury.

Nowitzki apparently hurt his knee during Friday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He played 42 minutes in the 108-103 setback and collected 23 points and 13 rebounds, according to the team reports from Houston.

The 26-year-old Nowitzki, who also missed a contest in Novemberdue to an ankle injury, is scheduled to undergo an MRI examinationon Monday. In 56 games this season, he is averaging 26.9 points and 10.1 rebounds.

Meanwhile, guard Michael Finley sat out his second straight game with a bruised left calf. Finley is averaging 17.6 points over 41 contests this season, the report said.
