Eight people died and 31 others were injured when an overloaded bus turned over and plunged into a 10-meter-deep valley Sunday noon in Zhejiang Province, police said Monday.

The 19-seat bus with 39 people aboard lost control and fell into a gully on a mountain road bridge in Zuocun Township, Dongyang City, at about 12:00 a.m. Sunday, leaving six people dead on the spot. Two others died in hospital.

The 31 injured are in stable conditions, doctors said.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
