Apartment housing blast kills 1, wounds 2 in Tianjin

An apartment blast took place Friday morning in a residential quarters in north China's Tianjin Municipality, leaving one person dead and two other people seriously wounded.

According to local police, the tragedy happened at 6:50 a.m. inan apartment in the Ruijiang Garden residential quarters of the Hexi District.

The apartment belongs to a young couple, said the police. The wife got killed in the blast while her husband and a neighbor werewounded seriously.

A preliminary probe shows the blast may possibly be caused by the improper use of cooking gas. A further investigation into the accident is still going on.
