Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy should return from injury for next month's Champions League match against AC Milan, manager Alex Ferguson said on Monday.

Ruud van Nistelrooy (R) and Ryan Giggs (L) are both on track to return to action for Manchester United ahead of schedule, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed.[AFP]
"He's doing very well. I spoke to him and he's coming along great," Ferguson told the club's website.

"He's started running now. We will hopefully have him for the AC Milan game," added Ferguson, who spoke to the Dutchman in the Netherlands where he has been recovering from an Achilles injury.

United, third in the Premier League, meet Milan in the first leg of their Champions League first knockout phase tie at Old Trafford on February 23.

The 28-year-old striker, who has been out of action since November, has scored 12 goals this season, including eight in the Champions League.
