Recently, Piaget, recognized worldwide as the "jeweller of watch-making," threw a party in Shanghai, showcasing a new passion for luxury, with decorative and expressive jewellery that follows fashion trends.

Elegance was in the air as a dozens of celebrities showed off their favourites, from the classic Piaget Polo to the 18k white gold Tonneau set entirely in diamonds.
But among all the sparks, the brightest came from Magic Reflections, Piaget's new jewellery collection inspired by the beauty of the garden.

Light and shade, nature and structure are deftly mixed to produce a range that conjures up an elusive realm of enchantment where nature revels in constant reinvention.

For more than 50 years, Piaget has turned heads with its decadent diamond-studded watches, but it received little recognition for its jewellery designs¡ªthat is, until now.

The new Magic Reflections jewellery collection captures the essence of the brand with its luxurious, imaginative, and distinctly feminine designs.

Piaget threw the party at Three On the Bund, a Shanghai-based complex regarded as China's most trendy spot and a contemporary fine-living celebration, where art, culture, food, fashion and music converge to inspire life.

The venue was transformed into an enchanting "secret garden"¡ªcomplete with silver-gilt steel flora and garden gates.

At the elaborate preview, exquisitely set leaves, trees sculpted from pure gold, precious droplets and glittering cascades of diamonds were placed in well-lit cases and found around the necks, wrists and fingers of a dozen celebrities.

Magic Reflections is an "idealized vision of nature," said Piaget's Asia-Pacific President Dimitri Gouten.

Water is a prominent design theme, as evident in the waterfall necklaces and bracelets, with cascading diamonds, and a fountain design with diamonds and sapphires flowing from a ring.

More mainstream interpretations of these one-of-a-kind creations are now on show in its boutiques across China, including those in Beijing, Shanghai and Harbin, capital city of Northeast China's Helongjiang Province.

The jewellery is not unlike Piaget's women's watches, which are known for their stylish versatility blended with a little whimsy.

The Secret watch, for example, appears to be a bracelet but opens to reveal a dial, and a playful ring watch resembles a standard diamond ring, but its centrepiece swivels to expose a watch.

Limelight, Piaget's other jewellery collection, reflects the same unsurpassed mastery of design and sophistication.

Far from superficial glamour, Limelight represents a new style that mixes romantic nostalgia with casual grace.

The best example is the Limelight heart pendent in 18-carat white gold, which is in a fluid shape and studded with 476 diamonds.

"We are focusing more on the design and individuality of each piece rather than on large stones," Gouten said.

"Technically, these were very complicated pieces to create, since each design has either movement or versatility; nothing is static. This adds to the relationship between a woman and her jewellery and ensures that she will never tire of her jewels."
