Beijingers flock to Africa
(CRI)
Updated: 2005-01-21 10:04

Africa is the desired hot spot for Chinese tourists this winter.

Package tours to Africa from Beijing's major travel agencies during Spring Festival are booked up; although most group tours for a one or two week-trip would set you back 15-25,000 yuan per person.

With Southeast Asian countries hit by the tsunamis and Europe's cold winter an unattractive prospect, more and more Chinese tourists are heading for Africa.

Egypt, South Africa and Morocco are the traditional destinations and last December another eight African countries opened to Chinese tourists. They are Kenya, Ethiopia, the Seychelles, Mauritius, Zambia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Tunisia.
