Fans limited to 28 tickets each in early World Cup sales

Fans will be able to apply for a maximum 28 World Cup 2006 tickets, up to four tickets for up to seven games, when the first batch go on sale next month.

A total of 850,000 tickets will be up for grabs in the first phase from February 1, organising committee vice-president Horst R. Schmidt told local media at a soccer technology conference in Hamburg on Tuesday.

Organisers will provide full details of the sales process on Monday.

Altogether around three million tickets will be available for the month-long tournament, generating an expected 200 million euros ($261 million).

Prices start at 35 euros ($45) for the lowest category seats at opening-round matches and go up to 600 euros ($784) for the most expensive seats at the final.
