Ex-coach of Once Caldas still connected to breathing device

The former coach of Colombian soccer club Once Caldas, Luis Montoya will continue connected to an artificial breathing device until other procedure for his recovery are established, as revealed Friday by a medical report.

Montoya got two shots Wednesday by two attackers who tried to rob his wife at the entrance of their house in Caldas municipality, in the center of Antioquia department (northwest). As a consequence, the coach went quadriplegic.

According to the Clinic of the Americas, where he was hospitalized after the assault, the condition of the coach remains stable, but without recovery in his neurological lession.

The lesion in the spine affected the respiratory function, so Thursday he underwent a tracheotomy and an percutaneous endoscopicgastrotomy to help him breath.
