Chinese mainland film "Kekexili" has won best picture and best
cinematography awards of the Golden Horse Film Awards in Taiwan, according
to reports reaching here from Taipei early Sunday.
"Kekexili" depicts how Tibetan people in the
Kekexili area have fought poachers to protect antelopes
. It is the first Chinese mainland film to
win the best picture in Taiwan's Golden Horse Awards.
Hong Kong once again was the biggest winner in Saturday night's film
awards.
Andy Lau, a Hong Kong pop singer-actor, captured the "Best Leading
Actor" award for his outstanding performance in the gangster film
"Infernal Affairs III." This is the third time that he has been nominated
and finally succeeded in winning the trophy.
The "Best Director" Award went to Hong Kong-born director Johnnie To
for his brilliant directing of the film "Breaking News."
Taiwan-born actress Yang Kuei-mei won the "Best Leading Actress" award
at the 41st Golden Horse Film Festival Saturday in the central city of
Taichung.
Yang won the award for her gorgeous portrayal in the film "The Moon
Also Rises."
