"The campaign aims to carry out the concepts of Green Olympics, Hi-tech Olympics and People's Olympics, to promote Olympic-related cultural activities among citizens and to boost mass participation in the Olympic movement in China," Zhang Ming, deputy-director of culture and ceremonies department of Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympics (BOCOG), told a press briefing.

"Institutions, individual professionals and amateurs, from home and abroad, are all welcome to hand in their entries," she added.

Zhang said there are no restrictions on the forms and genres of the submissions, which are supposed to fully display the Olympic spirit of solidarity, respect, fair play, joy and friendship.

A BOCOG news release said the deadline for the submission is April 25, 2005. All the submissions should be recorded on either cassette tapes, compact disks or CD-ROMs, together with a written interpretation of the entry, the author's bio and contacts and a signed letter of copyright transfer.

In addition to the entire songs, Olympic-related lyrics are solicited as well, with the deadline of February 28, 2005.

A cash reward of 10,000 yuan (about 1,210 US dollars) will be given to each of the ten winners that are selected from the submitted candidates by a panel composed of professional musicians.

The outcome of the campaign is to be announced in next June.
