Four miners died in a tunnel collapse accident that happened Sunday afternoon in Ledong Li Autonomous County in China's southernmost province of Hainan, local police confirmed on Wednesday.

At around 2:00 p.m. Sunday, a tunnel collapsed suddenly when seven miners were working 300 meters underground at the Baolun Goldmine in the county, killing four of them.

The police said the four victims were all from central China's Hunan Province and had been worked with the goldmine for two years.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
