 A styled
pedestrian walkway scheduled for 2005 will connect two Beijing royal gardens:
the Summer Palace at the east gate and the Garden of Perfect Brightness (Yuan
Ming Yuan).

 The
two-kilometer street will be scattered with cafes, teahouses, art galleries, and
souvenir boutiques, giving the walkway a pleasant and modern cultural flavor,
according to Haidian District authorities.

 The planned relaxation parlors
will complement visitors' appreciation of ancient culture relics as part of a
culture industry development package, which foresees at least 13 similar theme
streets in the district.

centered around a Jin Yuan Shopping mall, the first ever in Beijing, is also
under construction where affluent cinemas, star hotels and restaurants will be
located.
