China's export food quality continues to rise
(Xinhua)
Updated: 2004-11-20 00:53

The Chinese government has stepped up safety supervision of exported food in recent years, according to the China Food Safety Strategic Research Report.

The report, released here on Thursday, acknowledged that the quality of pork exported from the Chinese mainland to Hong Kong has raised sharply since 1998. Now technological barriers have become major restricting factor for China's agricultural product and food exports.

In order to keep increasing food quality and promote food trade, China is seeking to further improve its food safety standards. As part of an effort to keep with the commitment the country made when it joined the World Trade Organization in late 2001, China has carried out research, assessment and modification of the current food regulation.
