China will spare no effort to develop recycling economy + to use the least resources to meet the needs of social and economic development, said Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan.

China is a country with a large population, shortages of resources and weak ecological environment, said Zeng, while addressing an on-going forum on development of recycling economy held in Shanghai.

It is an important way for sustainable development of economy to make good use of and reuse the resources, he said.

In the past more than one decade, China has promoted the development of recycling economy by means of exploiting wastes and reusing the renewable resources, since the country promulgated rules and regulations related to recycling economy, said Zeng.

The vice premier stressed the key to development of recycling economy features low resources consumption, less environmental pollution, recycling use of resources and effectiveness of resources.

The main task at present, he noted, is to carry out clean production -- to encourage factories to use clean resources and raw materials, to save water and to reuse resources.

Zeng said governments at all levels should establish assessment criteria and scientific mechanisms and enact relative laws and regulations for the development of recycling economy.

The development of recycling economy should be incorporated into the plan of national economy and social progress, he said.
