Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Dallas Mavericks overcame
an early 17-point deficit for a 101-98 overtime victory against
Golden State at American Airlines Center.
Michael Finley added 17 points and seven boards for the unbeaten
Mavericks (4-0), who are off to their best start since they opened the
2002-03 season with 14 straight victories. Josh Howard had 14 points and
13 rebounds while Jason Terry chipped
in with 12 points to help Dallas to its 21st win in the
last 22 meetings with Golden State.
After squandering the big
lead, Jason Richardson hit a three in the waning seconds of regulation to
force overtime. He led the way with 25 points and 10 rebounds for the
Warriors, who have dropped four straight to begin the season for the first
time since the 1999-2000 campaign. Derek Fisher scored 23 points with nine
assists despite going just 6-for-23 from the field.
Elsewhere in the NBA, Andrei Kirilenko, who made 8-of-12 shots from the
field, scored 24 points and blocked five shots to lead Utah to a 102-91
win over Denver at the Delta Center.
Raja Bell delivered 17 points and six rebounds off the bench for
the Jazz, who started the season with four straight victories for the
first time since 2000-01, when they opened with five consecutive wins.
Mehmet Okur contributed 12 points and nine boards off the bench.
"We're pretty confident right now," Bell said. "We're doing some
exciting things."
Carmelo Anthony -- who got in early foul trouble -- posted a team-high
17 points and eight rebounds for the Nuggets, who dropped their second
straight game to Utah. Kenyon Martin registered 14 points and Bryon
Russell added 13.
In Los Angeles, Kobe Bryant collected 24 points, six assists and five
rebounds, as the Lakers rolled to a 106-90 victory over the Atlanta Hawks at Staples
Center.
