Toy factory goes for child's view of its products (China Daily) Updated: 2004-11-04 09:48
More than 800 children flocked to a toy company in the capital hoping to
compete for one of 20 child adviser posts up for grabs and said to carry a pay
cheque of up to 100,000 yuan (US$12,100), reports the Beijing Star Daily.
A week ago, the company announced it would invite 20 children from the ages
of two to 14 to try out its latest range of toys and make suggestions before
they go onto market.
It pledged to pay as much as 100,000 yuan to youngsters in return of their
useful suggestions. "Allowing children to choose what they like is the best way
for us to improve our products," said manager Zhang Xiao.
Although it is a way for children to develop their creativeness, the company
went too far to stress the role of money, remarked one commentator who
questioned the propriety of offering high cash lures to children.
