Shanghai, Beijing the top cities in China

Shanghai tops a list of leading Chinese cities, leading second-place Beijing by 79 points, according to the result of a National Bureau survey.

Over 50 indexes were considered in the city-ranking list, including population, economy, and infrastructure.

Shanghai exceeds Beijing in economy, social development, infrastructure, and environment while Beijing ranks first in population status among all the cities.

Beijing has the most number of people who have received education higher than the level of junior college, as well as the most number of people employed in the third industry.

Rounding out the top ten are the cities of Shenzhen, Guanzhou, Tianjin, Nanjing, Dalian, Hangzhou, Shenyang and Harbin.
