Hunan fireworks factory blast kills 13

Three explosions rocked a fireworks factory in central China on Thursday, killing 13 people and injuring three others, the local government said.

The blasts occurred at 6 a.m. a storage room in a factory in Linfeng, a county in Hunan province.

Authorities were investigating and have detained one of the owners, who was also in charge of production.

Seven people died at the site and six others died in the hospital. It was not immediately clear if they were factory workers or residents in the area.

The explosions also sparked a fire in nearby mountains, Xinhua News Agency said without elaborating.
