Ballroom dance festival for Shenzhen

The first China International Ballroom Dance Festival will be held at the Shenzhen Stadium from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1.

Sponsored by the China Ballroom Dancing Federation, the festival will feature the national ballroom dancing championships, social dancing championships, tap dancing championships and six city teams match.

A number of top Chinese ballroom dancers such as Wen Liangfu and Sun Rong, Cheng Bin and Qu Lajia and others will show their skills during the festival.

The six-city team match will comprise top dancers from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Taiwan competing in the same arena. Dances will include professional and amateur, modern and latin.

The festival will also feature the first national tap dance championships on the evening of Nov. 1. More than 300 tap dancers from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan as well as some professional teams from the mainland, will compete in the championships.

World renowned dancers such as Eugene Katsevman and his partner Maria Manusova as well as Roberto Villa and Morena Colagraco will perform as guest dancers during the festival.

The judges will include senior international judges such as Robin Short, Richard Porter, David Sycamor and Isao Nakagawa.
