Sun Yingjie tops IAAF world rankings

The victory at the Beijing International Marathon propelled Chinese marathon runner Sun Yingjie into the top of the Women's Road Running/Marathon Event Rankings of the IAAF.

Sun Yingjie scored a comfortable win at the Beijing International Marathon last weekend.

The victory propelled her into the world No.1 spot to take the place of Mizuki Noguchi of Japan.

She also took a significant step in the Women's Overall Rankings, jumping from 61st to 22nd.

Sun's compatriot, Zhou Chunxiu, who finished second in Beijing, advanced to 9th place in the World Rankings .
