AC Milan's Alessandro Nesta stretches for the ball during the match against Barcelona in their Champions League Group F match at the San Siro stadium in Milan, northern Italy October 20, 2004.

Brazilian Cafu broke down the right flank and delivered a deep cross from the back post which Barca keeper Victor Valdes failed to reach and Ukrainian Shevchenko powered in a header at the back post.

Barca, who had hit the cross bar through Swedish striker Henrik Larsson in the 19th minute, produced the better football for large parts of the game.

The Spanish side dominated after the break and almost grabbed a dramatic last minute equaliser when substitute Andres Iniesta crashed a shot against the bar.

Milan have a maximum nine points from three games with Barca in second place in the group, three points behind.
