Examination of trees in an ancient forest has revealed that one Maidenhair
tree, or gingko biloba, is 1,700 years old.
More than 40 ancient trees growing in the forest park in Kunshan, Jiangsu
Province have been shown to be much older than previously believed, reports the
Suzhou Daily.
The discovery of the 23-metre tall, 1,700-year-old specimen was made by
experts from Nanjing Forestry University. Earlier dating of trees in the park
has been shown to be up to 300 years out. At least 14 are more than 500 years
