Township businesses surges in added value

China's township businesses have reported a total of 2,744.7 billion yuan (US$332.3 billion) of added value in January-to-August this year, up 12.82 percent on a yearly basis.

According to figures released by the Township Enterprise Bureau under the Ministry of Agriculture, main indicators such as industrial added value, operational income, export value of products for delivery, benefit and taxation have all shown a coordinated and stable upward trend.

The added value generated by businesses with annual sales over 5 million yuan (US$605,326) reached 833.8 billion yuan (US$100.9 billion), 15.33 percent more than that of the previous year.

Benefiting from the thriving township businesses, the per capita income of the farmers paid by the businesses has risen to 650 yuan (US$78.7), 51 yuan more than the previous year.

At the same time, the businesses paid a total of 611.6 billion yuan (US$74.04 billion) to employees, 10.31 percent more on a yearly basis.

Based on statistics collected from 300 rural counties, the bureau calculated that the township businesses have employed 2.03 million new workers from January to August.
