100m Chinese watch women's volleyball final

Nearly 100 million Chinese fans witnessed through TV live broadcasting their country regaining the women's volleyball gold medal at the Athens Olympic Games after 20 years, a China's Central TV official said.

The Chinese women players came back from 2-0 down in the five- set thriller in the Olympic volleyball final against Russia to win the title for the first time after the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics triumph.

The final on September 29 (Beijing time) achieved an audience rate of 8.6 per cent, which stood for nearly 100 million TV audience that night as every 1 percentage in the audience rate represents 10 million people, said Cen Chuanli, an official in charge of the sports programming section of the China Central TV.
