The first China International Stewardess Beauty Pageant is slated for early November in Zhuhai in southern Guangdong province to coincide with the annual China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition.

According to Dong Taijin, deputy manager of the Zhuhai Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition Company, it has so far attracted entrants from most of China's domestic airways and more than 20 foreign airlines.

Dong said it was designed to serve as a platform for showcasing the culture and specialities of aviation firms around the world.

The organizing committee has prepared 16 prizes for best professional skills, best company image, best language, best image and beautiful angel, among others.

The event will be the latest in a series of specialized pageants in China, following recently announced plans for a contest open only to women who have undergone plastic surgery to look prettier.

Also in November, China will host a beauty contest for men, and another one for older citizens.
