Poland and Ukraine are to submit a joint bid to stage Euro 2012.

Ukraine had already sought to co-host the event with Russia whose president Vladimir Putin vetoed the idea.

Now Poland are set to join Ukraine in a bid to co-host the event.

Poland's ambassador in Kiev Marek Ziolkowski said: "The Polish government has decided to support this idea."

Scotland and Republic of Ireland, who failed in a joint bid to stage the 2008 event, are among the others in contention.
