Live with Olympic Games Among all the sport games, Olympic Games, a modern international sports event held once every four years in different countries, is undoubtedly the most exiting one. Athletes of all nationalities will compete in various sports and some of them will win the championship in honor. One of the attractive points of Olympic Games is their fair but ferocious world-level competitions in which athletes show their speed, strength and skill to win medals. When the world No. One stand on the platform to receive the gold medal with his or her anthem being played, the sense of national pride fills all heats of people in their nation. Although I am not a sports fun, I love Olympic Games. As a Chinese, I have witnessed the progress of Chinese team. In retrospect, impoverished China could not feed its people completely, let alone nurture an athlete. As a result, China began to participate in Olympic Games a bit later than other countries. Due to poor skills and lacking scientific training, our honorable athletes failed. However, we Chinese would never give up. We kept on trying with strong determination and perseverance. As an English saying goes, "A quitter never wins and a winner never quits." Step by step, China has become a sport giant in certain items. It is the progressive spirit of sports and Chinese people that makes what we are now. I think, with the same spirit, we can also achieve success in other fields such as economic construction and social progress. At the present time, disappointment and excitement occur in my heart alternatively. Times and again, we lose gold metals which we could have won in our proficient sports such as male group diving and male single championship of Ping Pong ball. Every cloud has a silver lightening. Simultaneously, the outstanding performances of our athletes both old and young in the so-called cold items give us wonderful surprises one after another. I think that is the charm of Olympic Games. It is unpredictable. Everything can happen until the last second. Athletes compete with competences as well as psychological quality. Those who are weak in any one of them will lose. Otherwise, all the judges have to do is make a list of names and determine who should win, which will be dull and ridiculous. Of course, to make mistake is human. We may lose medals occasionally, but we must learn a lesson and absorb the relevant experience so as to prevent further failures. In this way, we will come out to be a successive winner. On the other hand, there are also many disgusting scenes in Olympic Games. Scandals and prejudice stain the beauty of Olympic Games. The judges who had received bribery were no longer justice. Their unfair and ridiculous verdicts provoked audience from all over the world anger. Some athletes took prohibited drugs in order to win games illegally while others fell down times and again on purpose, ruining their national esteem with shameful medals. It is understandable that nobody wants to lose, but unlike some countries, China will always be able to afford any failure. As for Chinese, we would rather lose a game than win a gold medal by insulting means. No matter what the final result will be, we have given our best and we have no regret. Our best memory that we took the lead for more than half the game days in 2004 Athens Olympic Games will last forever. Next batch of Olympic Games will be held in Beijing, China------ an honorable
place of all Chinese in the world. It is a pity that I cannot go back to China
by then, but I will give my best wishes and all my genuine supports. Our Chinese
people will keep on the world level in sports and deliver a best 2008 Olympic
Games as we promised.
