Golden bust of Deng Xiaoping in Hong Kong

A golden bust of the late Chinese paramount leader Deng Xiaoping is displayed in front of a portrait of Deng in Hong Kong August 24, 2004. The bust, made by a Hong Kong jewelry store from 2.8 kilogram of gold which valued at around HK$1 million (US$130,000), will be presented to the three daughters of Deng during their visit to the territory starting Tuesday. China celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of Deng on Sunday, who was considered as the overall architect of its open policy and economic reform. [Reuters]
