Oil depot explodes in Changchun, killing one

An oil depot in Changchun, Northeast China's Jilin Province, has exploded August 11, 2004, killing one and injuring another person. The depot is located at the Northeast China Normal University, where students in buildings near the depot were evacuated after the explosion. It took more than two hours for firefighters to extinguish the flames. Improper operational procedures by a worker are being blamed for the accident. [newsphoto]
