A helicopter crash killed at least six people in Russia on Thursday, local media reported.

Interfax news agency quoted the Emergencies Ministry as saying six people had died, while state television reported eight of the 15 on board had been killed.

The helicopter was found in Siberia's Tyumen region on the border with Kazakhstan. It was carrying 12 passengers and three crew members.

"Communication was lost soon after the helicopter took off," an Emergency Ministries spokesman said. "It was found 90 km (55 miles) from the village of Raduzhnoye."

The helicopter took off from the village.

There was no information on what may have caused the crash.
