Lottery winners get second chance in Shaanxi

A winner of a BMW car at the remedial second-time draw drives away in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province July 12, 2004 after the lottery scandal. All potential winners, who were denied of the chances in the scam over, took part in the lot redrawing. Three got their prizes Monday -- BMW car plus 120,000 yuan (US$14,400) each. The draw, conducted by the Shaanxi Provincial Sports Lottery Administrative Centre and the local administration centre, came after six government functionaries were detained in June for the fraud.[newsphoto]
