A young man suffering from cysts on his kidney Wednesday received surgery to remove the six-kilogram overweight left kidney from which doctors discharged 5.5 kilograms of urine.

The 17-year-old boy, surnamed Wu from Anxi city of the eastern province of Fujian, was found to have a growing protruding belly shortly after his birth. Because of swollen-belly pain from time to time, Wu suffered a lack of appetite and ate little during past dozen years.

Because of extreme malnutrition, Wu was weak and skinny, with the disproportionate big belly that made him look like a pregnant woman.

Wu recently went to the Zhongshan Hospital of Xiaman city, Fujian, for help. The medical examination detected cysts on his kidney. Dr. Liu Zhongchen and his two assistants spent three hours Wednesday to remove his overweight left kidney.

The doctor said one kidney is enough to maintain a human's normal life and Wu will be living as well as normal people after the operation.
