在日常英语中，当人们讽刺贪心的人或得寸进尺者时，有时会说：What do you want? Egg in your beer? 这句话通常表示What else do you want? You already have it good. Why are you complaining? 这个说法很有点奇怪，难道把鸡蛋放在啤酒里很好吃，很有诱惑力吗？

Egg in your beer这个短语最早出现在大约二十世纪早期，直到二战期间才真正流行起来。关于这句俗语的起源，曾经有人认为啤酒加鸡蛋这种混合物具有春药的功效，因此被当作很好的东西。但更可靠的推测是，过去鸡蛋和啤酒都是很紧俏的物资，特别是在战时，不象现在一样可以轻易买到。因此对那些得寸进尺，总是想拿得更多的人来说，这是一个很好的比喻。
