Bridge in northeast China city collapses

Tianzhuangtai Bridge in Panjin City, northeast China's Liaoning Province, suddenly collapsed at 7:02 a.m. on Thursday, local sources say.

Vehicles were seen falling down from the 500-meter bridge over the Liaohe River, connecting Panjin and Yingkou City.

By press time, there is no information about casualties.

Most of the vehicles were trucks, said an official with the Panjin city government.

"There were no buses on the bridge when it collapsed, but some cargo trucks," the official told reporters.
