Changsha National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone (CHTIDZ) was founded in 1988, and approved by the State Council, it became one of the China's earliest national high-tech development zone in March 1991.

In the year of 2003, CHTIDZ accomplished a total income of RMB 40.3 billion, Hi-tech production value RMB 35.2 billion, tax RMB 5.1 billion. 222 enterprises had their production value exceeded RMB 10 million and 62 of them, such as LG-Philips Shuguang, Broad Air-conditioning, Hunan Computer Inc, Powerise, Zoomlion Heavy Industry and Sany Heavy Industry made the production value surpassed RMB 100 million.
