据法新社报道，美国政府26日发出警告，根据可靠情报，未来几个月内，基地组织将在美国举行重大活动时发动袭击，美国进入“高度危险时期”。美国司法部部长约翰·阿什克罗夫特和联邦调查局局长米勒列出了一份针对7名恐怖分子的通缉名单。这7名恐怖分子都与美国所面临的恐怖袭击威胁有关。外电中的报道是这样的：Al Qaeda intends to "hit the United States hard" in the next few months, Attorney General John Ashcroft said today, citing intelligence from multiple sources. Intelligence通常表示“智力；才智”，在这里是“情报”的意思，例如technical intelligence（技术情报）、airphoto intelligence（航摄情报）。此外，intelligence的复数形式还可以表示带有宗教意义的“神，天使”。
