Hu reiterated scientific concept of development
Chinese President Hu Jintao has reiterated that China's problems arising in its development must be solved in line with a scientific concept of development.
Hu, also the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said this recently during an inspection tour to east China's Jiangsu Province from April 30 through May 6.
Accompanied by local Party and government authorities, Hu visited workshops, scientific institutions, rural areas and urban neighborhoods in cities including Nanjing, Yangzhou, Suzhou and carried out inspections over topics such as implementation of scientific development concept and consolidated building of the Party.
"To fully understand the economic situation of our country, we should bear in mind that the economy has maintained a fine development tendency, but at the same time be aware that a number of contradictions and some problems arise in the process of development that need our attention and must be solved in time," said Hu, who emphasized that the central government had made a careful arrangement of reining in the too fast growth in fixed assets investment.
The president asked local officials to unify their thoughts, enhance the sense of responsibility and the awareness of considering the overall situation of the country.
Hu said measures should be taken to protect the enthusiasm of accelerating development on one hand and to pursue a stable, harmonious and rapid growth in economy by highlighting deepening reform, improving structure and efficiency on the other.
Hu stressed it was also imperative to make a success of deepening reform, wipe out systematic obstacles hindering economic development and social progress in accordance with establishment of an improved socialist market economy mechanism.
Hu also urged local officials to get rid of all ideas that might hinder the implementation of scientific concept of development and correct all acts that have proved to be erroneous.
On China's grain issue, the president said to guarantee both grain harvests and the increase of farmers' income, policies made by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council must be strictly implemented.
On the country's sustainable development strategy, Hu urged different localities to do a good job in using resources economically and comprehensively, make great efforts in advancing recycled economy, and make a success of bio-environmental protection and construction, so as to establish a resource-efficient economy and society
