China's preparations for the forthcoming Asian Cup were dealt a blow Wednesday when Arie Haan's side played out a scoreless draw with Andorra.

The visitors were missing veteran striker Hao Haidong and also Everton midfielder Li Tie, who has a fractured leg, but were expected to win against a side that has won just two friendly matches at international level, against Albania and Belorussia.

The closest China, who notched narrow wins over Hong Kong and Kuwait in recent World Cup 2006 qualifiers, came to scoring was when Zheng Zhi's header skimmed the Andorran crossbar seconds before half time.

China's next stop on their European tour is against Spanish league giants Barcelona on April 21. Haan's team will then play Algeria on April 28.

China play Bahrain in the opening game of the Asian Cup, on July 17.

China team v Andorra: Liu Yunfei - Yang Pu, Zheng Zhi, Zhang Yuning, Wei Xin (Zhang Shuo 46) - Xiao Zhanbo, Zheng Bin (Li Yi 46), Feng Xiao, Xu Yunlong - Zhou Haibin (Liu Jindong 70), Wang Peng (Tao Wei 46).
