Chelsea are the new favourites for the Champions League after AC Milan's shock exit on Wednesday night.

Milan, the reigning European champions, were as short as 1/50 to qualify for the semi-finals after winning the first leg of their quarter-final with Deportivo La Coruna 4-1.

It was hard to argue with that assessment given that they were unbeaten away from home in the Champions League and Serie A this season - and hadn't even conceded an away goal in Europe.

But the formbook was turned on its head as Depor stunned the Italians 4-0 at the Riazor for a 5-4 aggregate success to seal a semi-final with Porto.

The elimination of market leaders Milan (who themselves took over from Real Madrid) and Chelsea's victory over Arsenal on Tuesday night - thanks to Wayne Bridge's late goal - all means that the Blues are now the clear favourites to lift the trophy.

They face Monaco, conquerors of Real Madrid, for a place in the final and head Betfair's market on 3.05.

Milan had been matched at as short as 2.10 before their capitulation against Depor and the Spaniards, traded at as big as 200 for outright glory, are now second best on 3.3.

"There have been some remarkable turnarounds in these second leg matches," said Betfair's Tony Calvin.

"Real Madrid were backed at 1/20 to progress to the last four prior to Tuesday's defeat at Monaco, and now Milan have been backed at 1/50 and failed, with a phenomenal amount traded at 1/20 and shorter in our to qualify market," he added.

Porto, who beat Lyon 4-2 on aggregate to reach the semis, are next on 4.8 with Monaco the outsiders at 6.0.

Giovane Elber's late equaliser for Lyon in the 2-2 draw with Porto may have had little relevance in the tie as a whole but it cost some Betfair punters dear.

?,000 was matched on a Porto win at 1.01 as the clock ticked down before Elber's leveller.
