Soccer superstar David Beckham has been named the best-dressed British man of all time -- beating out competition from Jude Law, Sean Connery, David Bowie and Orlando Bloom.

The Real Madrid ace -- who was also named the best-dressed man of the year for the third year in a row -- topped the poll in the British edition of GQ.

The magazine says, "The best-dressed man of 2004 is the best-dressed Briton ever.

"His unashamed fascination with the cutting edge, as well as his understanding of what's cool about couture, is unrivalled by any other Englishman.

"Beckham has liberated the style warrior in us all, and for that we salute him."

Second best dressed of all time is movie hunk Law, followed by Tom Ford in third place, veteran rocker Bowie in fourth and Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl star Bloom in fifth place.
