The late Princess Margaret is to be portrayed as a bed-hopping nymphomaniac in a docu-drama.

The Queen's younger sister famously enjoyed the attentions of a string of lovers throughout her colorful life.

Now she will be seen bedding at least five men in the ?million two-hour Channel 4 film Margaret Rose.

These include love of her life Captain Peter Townsend, her father's equerry who she could not marry because he was divorced. She will also be seen cavorting with husband Tony Armstrong Jones - later Lord Snowdon - and in the throes of passion with her much younger lover Roddy Llewellyn.

In her hedonist years, when she often jetted off to the island of Mustique, she was rumored to have had flings with Peter Sellers, Mick Jagger and Dusty Springfield. Channel 4 drama boss John Yorke said: "It is a no-holds-barred, warts and all account of her life. It is not disrespectful, just very frank. It must have been hard being born second in line to the throne and end up 42nd."

Producers promise the film "takes an irreverent look at the bad girl of the British monarchy." But it could offend the Queen who always remained fiercely loyal to Margaret despite her failings.

A Channel 4 spokesman said: "It will give people the chance to hear lots of those whispered conversations behind closed doors you wish you'd heard. It's a look at what she got up to as a young woman, so there will be sex scenes."

Margaret, a whisky drinker and chain smoker, died two years ago at 71 after years of ill health. Actresses tipped to play her include Anna Friel, Liz Hurley and Rachel Stirling. Shooting will start in the spring
