Get your mind out of the gutter

有一次，我们几个同事在一起聊天，Joe 讲了一个带点黄色的笑话，其他人都大笑起来，只有我没听懂，只好说：“I don't get it.”谁知他们听后爆发出更大的笑声。Dalar 就说了一句“Her mind is not in the gutter”.我心想我的 mind 难道不是跟你们在一起的吗？

原来“mind in the gutter”的意思是心思不良，心术不正。也就是說 Dalar 刚才是在帮我解释，说我之所以没听懂 Joe 的笑话，是因为我不会像他们一样想得那么歪。

因此如果想说某人心思不正，就可以说那人的“mind in the gutter”，让他別那样了就可以说“Get your mind out of the gutter.”虽然我笑话没听懂，但是学会了一个成语，也算是有所收获。
