Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre will be the main stadium for the 10th National Games in 2005. it has been not only the largest public utility project in Jiangsu province so far, but also one of the large projects invested by provincial government in the 10th Five Period. After completed, the center will be a symbolic architecture both of Jiangsu, a province with rich cultures and excellent athletic strength, and Nanjing, a historic city. Nanjing Olympic Sports Center is to become the largest synthetic sports architectural complex and the most beautiful sports park with the most comprehensive functions and the highest technical standards before Beijing holds 2008 Olympic Games.

Najing Olympic Sports Center is located in the center area of Hexi new district in Nanjing. It is neighboring to Jiangdong South Road in the east, Qingshigeng Road in the south, Shangxinghe Road in the west and Weiba Road in the north. The center is adjacent to the terminal of No.1 Subway Line in the east, which is under planning. The center occupies a total of 89.6 hectares of land, with 400,000 square meters of floor area. It includes a main stadium, a gymnasium, a swimming poll stadium, a tennis center, a news center and auxiliary projects like communications engineering, environmental scenes and energy center. The preliminary work of the center has been accomplished by July 2002 since the beginning of the invitation of bid in June 2001. The formal began in Aug. The construction of stadiums and gymnasiums is planned to complete as of the end of 2004, and equipment adjustment and test and environmental development will fast form January 2005 top April 2005. The whole center will be completed and put into trial operation in April. The total investment on the project of the center amounts to about 2.0billion yuan.
